day 2: reflections on day 1

missing parts
people
scanning and looking
not quite getting it
Dots
partially sighted scanner
shifting focus
The software, the brain, fill in the gaps -
smoothing over
Imagining
the bits that have been missed
making them anew
Solidifying
Translating
Encoding stuff
the speed, or slowness, of
transferring data
A pause
A volume of captured data
many images
many lenses
many eyes
cloth
looking
at things
at screens
Observed process
Asking
Answering
Thinking
small sintered objects, bright and tough
Feeling
greasy lumps of rubber in cold water
energy comes in waves

A break
cake, of many types
The scanner can't read the texture of crumb
soothing the surface
velvet
virtually there
Being in a room with people
familiar-new
All day
A long day
A productive day
At points, focus drops out
being physically present
mind goes elsewhere
briefly
Processing, a pause.

Gathering info
quietly
tai chi scanning
Concentrating
building, balancing
things dropping off
moving furniture
signal dropping off
Computer needs
nothing else is fixed
foaming melting dripping stacking
pinning taping

Background cafe clatter

  1. Fascinating conversations with the artists yesterday, Michael has some VERY interesting ideas blooming using phone apps and Louisa has a very strange sound mic! Looking forward to the 'blind' workshop with John Dickinson Lilley tonight...
